Assessor - Exemptions for School Property Tax Relief
SCHOOL PROPERTY TAX RELEF PROGRAMS
New York State offers relief from school property taxes to property owners who qualify for different exemptions. You may access any form from the New York State Real Property Website by clicking here. You may also, contact the Assessor's Office to see if you qualify for these or other exemptions that may be available. All applications must be submitted to the Assessor's Office no later than March 1st. For more information on any tax relief program, please click on the links below:
BASIC STAR 425 (fill-in): To be eligible for the Basic Star Exemption, the property must be owner occupied and the primary residence. Proof of residence must be submitted with the 425 application.
ENHANCED STAR EXEMPTION 425 (fill-in): To be eligible for this exemption, the applicant must be a senior property owner 65 years of age or older. The property owner must meet proof of age and income eligibility using their latest Federal Income Tax Returns. Senior property owners can file until March 1st. If the property owner does not file an Income Tax Return then all 1099 statements from Social Security, pensions, annuities, bank interest, etc. must be submitted by March 1st.
SENIOR STAR 467 EXEMPTION~LOW INCOME (fill-in): This exemption applies to incomes below the required limits set by each school district and municipality. Please refer to the income limits found below for your corresponding school district.
