The Nature Conservancy’s Preserve Day in Honor of 50 Years of Conservation;
Saturday, October 2nd, 10am-1:30pm, Camp Saratoga.
Ramble through a habitat restoration site for the state and federally endangered Karner blue butterfly; skip across a slow moving stream (on a bridge!); frolic through the mixed forest; and wile your way alongside a wetland. Walk leaders will describe The Nature Conservancy’s efforts at this community-based conservation program site with a focus on the Karner blue butterfly, resident reptile and amphibian species, and area wetlands. Participants will enjoy a hearty snack at a beautifully situated woodland lean-to. Level of Difficulty: Moderate; Distance: 3 miles. Pre-registration required; call 518-587-1939 ext. 220.

Youth Cross-Country Ski Race;
Saturday, January 15th. This event is sponsored by the Bill Koch Youth Ski League. Youth 13 years of age and younger are invited to participate in this free event. Course distances vary from 0.2km to 4.1km, based on age and ability. All abilities are welcome and no race experience is necessary. For more information, please call Sean Halligan at 583-6132.

Keeping Track;
Friday, January 28th & Saturday, January 29th.
Susan C. Morse, a nationally recognized naturalist and habitat specialist with thirty years of experience tracking and interpreting wildlife uses of habitat, will conduct two programs in Wilton. On Friday, January 28th, 7pm-8:30pm, Susan will present a slideshow that touches on the critical roles of conservation biology and citizen participation in grassroots, landscape-scale conservation initiatives. Her presentations are entertaining, informative, and suitable for the entire family. Pre-registration is not required. The cost for this program is $5/family or $3/individual. On Saturday, January 29th, Susan will lead two half-day field trips. Susan will show participants tracks and signs of wildlife and share the ability to focus on certain features of the landscape in searching for evidence of wildlife. No walk in the woods will ever be the same after a walk with Susan. Each field trip is limited to 20 participants and pre-registration is required. The cost of the half-day field trip is $20/person. Camp Saratoga 8k Snowshoe Race,
Saturday, February 12th, 10:30am.
Part of the Western Massachusetts Athletic Club Snowshoe Series, this race is open to the public. Information and applications can be found on www.runwmac.com and www.saratogastryders.org. This is a United States Snowshoe Assocation (USSSA) East Regional Qualifier for the US Nationals. All proceeds go to the Wilton Wildlife Preserve & Park.

Annual Moonlight Ski & Snowshoe,
Saturday, February 19th, 7pm-9:30pm, Camp Saratoga.
A portion of Camp Saratoga’s five miles of woodland trails will be beautifully lit for skiing and snowshoeing. What better way to enjoy the full moon and the out of doors? To warm your insides, hot chocolate will be available at locations along the trail. To warm your outsides, an outdoor fire will burn brightly. Bring your family; bring your friends!
